Redirect Oil Subsidizing to Renewable Energy

The report, "Untapped Wealth: Offshore Wind Can Deliver Cleaner, More Affordable Energy and More Jobs Than Offshore Oil," says that offshore wind can generate nearly 30% more electricity than offshore oil and gas resources combined.

Wind development would cost approximately $36 billion less than offshore oil and gas production combined.

Wind development will create three times as many jobs per dollar invested than fossil fuel production.

A small portion of renewable energy resources is sufficient to power the country several times over in a cost-effective way.

A modest investment in offshore wind could supply almost half of the current electricity generation on the East Coast.

Delaware, Massachusetts and North Carolina could generate enough electricity from offshore wind to equal current electricity generation, entirely eliminating the need for fossil-fuel-based electric generation.

Oceana recommends eliminating federal subsidies for fossil fuels and redirecting these funds to renewable energies and energy efficiency programs. Other recommendations include stopping all new offshore oil and gas drilling to prevent future spills and prioritizing the leasing of installation vessels for offshore wind turbine construction so that it is not impeded by offshore oil and natural-gas development.

Based on conservative assumptions for offshore wind and generous assumptions for offshore oil and natural gas, this study found that, by investing in offshore wind on the East Coast, rather than in offshore oil and gas, Americans would get more energy for less money.

When Everything Chages, Change Everything: By Neale Donald Walsch

I haven't read 'When Everything Changes' by Neale Walsch yet, but I read this excerpt and I like it. The following is a list of natural emotions we experience in response to change, and the emotions we can choose to have about change. Definitely something to meditate on . . .

Fear into Excitement,
Worry into Wonder,
Expectation into Anticipation,
Resistance into Acceptance,
Disappointment into Detachment,
Enragement into Engagement,
Addiction into Preference,
Requirement into Contentment,
Judgement into Observation,
Sadness into Happiness,
Thought into Presence,
Reaction into Response,
A Time of Turmoil into a Time of Peace

Today's Sabisms

Sabisms comin' at me fast! "First and foremost, it's about the music."

Life is teaching me so much right now. In order to make sure the lessons stick with me I am going to start capturing them in this blog.

#1. My words should always reflect what I am really thinking and feeling.

#2. In order to create an extraordinary reality I must focus my life force on my contribution to my reality, and master contributing excellence. In Sab's words, "First and foremost - it's about the music." I feel so fortunate to have a brother and creative partner who encourages excellence and embraces the lighthearted child-like appreciation for life and all of its consistent mysteries.

#3. Letting go of baggage feels great! Moving in the direction that I really want to go in feels even better! It feels good to know that it's okay to feel really good all of the time.

#4. Knowing myself is essential to my success. Knowing what I want, what I stand for, what I don't stand for. I thoroughly enjoy making music, and my passion for it encompasses a desire to edify humanity through it. I will make music because I can see this is what I am born to do, I will love harder because I can see this is what I am born to do, I will shine brighter because I can see this is what I want to do.

#5. Amen.

Loyalty

I am finally getting a taste of what it feels like to be loyal to someone who only wants to attach themselves to other misfits and throw it in your face. It's as if I am being punished for being loyal to to someone. From this day forward my loyalty will be only for those who deserve it. Starting with myself.

I am a woman of my word.

I want to be a woman of my word. I have never held myself to that high standard, but I absolutely adore that trait in others.

How can I be such a person. How can I develop such a conviction? One thing I imagine will help is proclaiming it.

First Fridays Review

First Fridays was good times. The highlights included hanging with my brother Sab and my nephew Shod, the art, laughing with new and familiar faces, and learning all 20 verses of La bamba from the serenading DJ at Casa Don Juans Mexican food restaurant. (Charlie Rivero recommends the chicken flautas)

TOP SPOTS:

Art Factory
; two story gallery space, energetic decor, complimentary chocolate and wine, full bar, and live music out front.

POP2; a hidden nook filled with sexy urban art, spray paint, vinyl, books, and more.

SWEET PEEPS:

Local Artist Joseph Watson
I was impressed with the distinct and sophisticated style of Josephs multi-layered urban scenes.

Local Artist Peanut Butter Cookiez

I love Peanut Butter Cookiez! The girls got skills! With seductive elegance she executes her version of hip-hop culture.

Local Artist & Friend Anne King
Anne's vibrant expressions of feminine energy and nature were uplifting and sensual.

04.08.10

Well, I'm about to get ready to go to the First Fridays event in Vegas. The weather has been sunny, about 75 degrees F all day. It should be nice tonight. I'll wear comfy sandals and maybe bring a light jacket. I am curious to see if the First Fridays here is much different from the one in Phoenix.
